The Hon. John Dalli, Minister for Social Policy received a courtesy visit,
by Cardinal Ennio Antonelli, the newly appointed Head for Pontifical Council for the Family.
During a cordial meeting the Hon Minister together with Cardinal Antonelli shared their
views on family related issues and the new challenges which the families are facing.
The Hon. John Dalli explained the government’s commitment to strengthen the Maltese
family as it is the foundation of the Maltese society.
Pope Benedict XVI has named Cardinal Ennio Antonelli of Florence to become president of
the Pontifical Council for the Family, replacing the late Cardinal Alfonso Lopez Trujillo.
Cardinal Antonelli will take up his new duties in September.
